BROCCOLI CHALK BAG PATTERN

Once again we have a food related climbing chalk bag pattern coming your way! Featuring: the Broccoli Chalk Bag!

BRRROOOOCCCCCOOOLLLIII! More food related crocheted climbing chalk bags! It’s turning into my favorite thing to crochet, and I have to say making vegetables is my jam. I have always loved veggies more than fruit. From just a little girl, broccoli has been one of my favorite foods and I generally don’t eat any fruit at all. Weird, huh?

BARREL CACTUS CHALK BAG PATTERN

Who doesn’t love cacti? This simple yarn creation is made to look like a barrel cactus in bloom.

Cactus, cactus, cactus. They may be the hot crochet pattern choice lately, but it’s not surprising why! Anyone can get on board with the cute factor. This pattern just uses two different colors of yarn and a crochet hook to make something really special. And of course, who else will have a cacti swinging from their belt while they climb?

5 WAYS TO RE-USE YARN SCRAPS (AND WHY YOU SHOULD!)

Stumped on what to do with the scraps left over from your fiber makes? Considering throwing them away? Or worse, storing them with no plan! Don’t!

My least favorite thing about crocheting is my yarn waste. Yarn production (both natural fibers and man-made fibers) utilizes a lot of water, resources, and energy, and can have a negative effect on the environment. I am intentionally working to decrease my waste and focus on re-using and recycling my yarn. One of the ways I do this is accurately measuring my yarn needed before purchasing and checking my own stash before hitting my local JOANNs. However, sometimes you just have leftovers! Whether they are big or small, I came up with five ways to re-use these scraps and give them new life, without the guilt of throwing them away.

JANUARY 2019 | BLOG INCOME AND TRAFFIC REPORT

I want to give other bloggers and those who are considering starting a blog the resources to succeed! To do that, I am sharing my monthly income and traffic reports and my biggest takeaways. I would like the community to have a chance to follow along with a new blogger and learn as I learn.

Earning just under one hundred dollars in a month of blogging might not seem like a lot, but it is laying the ground work for a future in profitable blogging and I am excited about my results six months in to this wonderful and crazy world of blogging! My other goal with sharing my expenses and earnings at this point in my blogging career is to provide data and examples from a blogger who has just started and who’s experience might be more accessible to other new bloggers. I want to show you what its like when you just start out, not when your blog has blown up and you are able to pay the mortgage with your blog. So enjoy!

CUPCAKE CHALK BAG PATTERN

This cupcake chalk bag is so sweet and fun to make. Add a cherry topper and cinch it closed for an adorable chalk bag that will keep your chalk secure and your climbing fun.

Last month, I stumbled upon some adorable cupcake-flannel fabric while rummaging through the JOANN’s remnant fabric bins (who doesn’t head straight there?!). I decided immediately that I would need to crochet a matching cupcake chalk bag so that I could use this precious fabric as the liner. And here we are! More food related chalk bags. I just can’t get enough. It feels like I may need to devote my entire blog to food shaped chalk bags – is that too niche?? I think it would bring me joy, and since I have been Marie Kondo-ing my way through our home, my ability to sense what sparks joy is at an all time high and I’m going with it!

KOMA KULSHAN JUMBO BLANKET PATTERN

This fluffy throw blanket is made from beautiful jumbo yarn and a size U crochet hook, making it a fast and easy make!

Ever since I started crocheting, and especially since I started designing, I have dreamed of working with huge yarn like the Couture Jazz jumbo yarn I used in this pattern. And let me tell you, I was not let down! I grabbed my biggest hook yet – a lovely wooden jumbo hook, sized U (25mm) – and got down to business. As you might guess, working with big yarn like this is fast! You will love how quickly your project progresses and seeing all the standard crochet stitches enlarged. There is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to mastering the technique of crocheting with jumbo yarn, but it is worth it! Plus, next time someone comes by and asks you where you got that gorgeous throw, you can tell them you made it.
