JUNGLE BOLSTER PILLOW PATTERN

Cotton yarn and a plethora of bobbles give this bolster pillow awesome texture and form.

This pattern started as a fun project I winged and turned into a pattern on the blog – funny how that happens! I used scrap cotton yarn I had around, which happened to be some bright and beautiful Re-up yarn from Lion Brand Yarn.

The environmentalist in me was so excited when Lion Brand Yarn came out with their new eco-friendly recycled cotton yarn, Re-Up. This yarn is 85% recycled cotton and 15% polyester. Using just one skein of Re-Up Yarn saves 5,900 cups of water!

Not only is this yarn sustainable, but it is cheap! Check out these $2 skeins here and get a start on your pillow. It also makes an awesome gift as we head into the winter season!

DIRECTIONS

You will be crocheting a rectangle and then seaming it into a tube; stuffing it, and finally closing the ends up – bobbles out!

Begin with worsted weight yarn

ch 80 (this is how wide your pillow will be, the rows you crochet will determine how long your pillow is; turning chain does not count as a stitch)

(Wondering what the checkboxes are for? Check out this tutorial and make online patterns easier to follow!)

Repeat rows 1 through 8 until row 96 changing colors every 24 rows for a total of four yarn colors.

Do not fasten off, move on to the assembly steps below.

ASSEMBLY

Fold the rectangle in half hot dog style, so that the four colors switch horizontally, and begin single crocheting closed. Change yarn colors as you crochet through the color changes, if desired (photos below show seam in one color only).

Once the long seam is finished, turn inside out and sew one of the ends closed. Turn right side out and stuff firmly to end. Sew up the final end and move stuffing to evenly fill out the bolster pillow; the seam of the pillow should be in the middle of the pillow, so the end seams need to be perpendicular to it.

Your Jungle Bolster Pillow is finished! Toss it on the couch, chair, or bed!
