I may have been influenced by our time in Las Vegas, but once I saw this skein of faux fur yarn I knew it was meant to become a purse! This quick pattern will spice up the winter months; this fuzzy purse will hold everything you need and bring a smile to you and those around you. I love the subtle mint green coloring, the way the stitches disappear and how dang soft it is! I offset all of this softness with a matching black and gold zipper and purse strap set from Joann’s.
I finally gave in to the faux fur craze and picked up this skein of Red Heart Hygge Fur Yarn from my Joanns last week. The beautiful shade of mint green just called out to me and I immediately envisioned a rectangular handbag. Next, I walked over to the sewing section at Joann’s and found a black and gold zipper for jeans that perfectly matched a gold-studded black crossbody strap in the jewelry section. I thought these black and gold accents went perfectly with the furry green yarn, what would you pick?!
Working with faux fur yarn was actually much easier than I thought it would be. It is not too difficult to see your stitches, but a few stitch markers can take the guesswork out of counting rows. I also found that this particular fur yarn did not shed at all! I may be generally covered in fur from our kitties, but you won’t find any mint green faux fur on me!

ASSEMBLY
ZIPPER
Taking a long length of faux fur yarn and a sharp yarn needle sew in your zipper a quarter inch below the edge of your purse. The opening of your purse should be just under 9 inches long, giving you a little leftover zipper length. Once finished sewing, simply tuck this extra zipper length down into the purse. Here is an excellent blog post with an instructional video for how to sew in a zipper.
STRAPS
Clip your Simplicity crossbody strap to each upper corner of your purse, making sure to clip through a few stitches so your straps are sturdily attached.
Your Faux Fur Purse is all finished! Take it out on the town tonight!
