HOLIDAY LLAMA CHALK BAG PATTERN

A warm and cozy llama to keep your chalk warm and cozy while you scale those rock walls!

This holiday llama is festive at any time of year; but really how cute and Christmassy is that red scarf?? I wanted to make one final chalk bag design of the year that would be the cutest, softest, coziest thing I could make. Then I saw this llama hat pattern and knew it was time to make a llama chalk bag!

We happen to have a bright green climbing rope and when I took this little guy out climbing it was Christmas destiny! I love playing with textures and colors in my chalk bags, while always keeping it silly. And this design definitely ticks all of those boxes. This was my first time getting my hands on some Bernat Pipsqueak yarn and I love the furriness it gives, while still being easy to crochet with.

Not a climber? This little cutie makes a perfect yarn scrap basket or even a little bag! Cinch it up with a crocheted chain, instead of paracord, and you have yourself an adorable little bag!

Ears (MAKE 2)

ch 3

Do not fasten off, ch 1 and begin to sc around the entire ear, working 2sc in each corner.

SCARF

chain 80, must be long enough to wrap around the circumference of the chalk bag base and overlap an inch or so on each side.

Finish off and leave a long tail for sewing. Add a one-inch long fringe to both ends.

ASSEMBLY

Begin by sewing the round snout to your chalk bag, aligned with the base of the bag. Once you have sewn three-quarters of the snout down, lightly stuff the snout, then finish sewing. Embroider nostrils in black acrylic yarn.

Sew the safety eyes on just above the snout and add small eyelashes with the black acrylic yarn.

Next, sew the ears to the inner top edge of the chalk bag above the eyes and facing forward. Note that the ears both bend, make sure they are sewn on so that they bend toward each other.

Finally, sew the scarf securely to the base of the chalk bag, keeping it overlapped in the front.
