On a road trip? Wondering where to camp and climb in the southwest? Find out where the best destinations for vanlife are and what to do at each spot!

When traveling around the southwest in a minivan for a year you put a lot of miles on your car and see a lot of beautiful places, but some places stand out. Some destinations were planned and some we stumbled upon- those were the best. These are my 5 favorite destinations from our vanlife road trip and ones that you should take time to visit too!

We definitely lived a minimalist life on the road; we bought a used mini-van, finished it out with a cheap futon, and packed everything on in!

There were a few things we could NOT live without though! Most of them were inexpensive, a few we splurged on, but all were necessary to a happy and healthy #vanlife experience. Read on to find out my favorite and most useful items after a year on the road living out of our van.

Four DIY crochet projects for the road! I designed these projects while we were living #vanlife and still use them today.

The year we spent on the road I began my journey into designing my own crochet patterns. We had free time in the evenings and on rest days, and it was the perfect creative pursuit for me to engage in. I especially enjoyed sitting in a camp chair in a new place, looking around at the desert beauty, and imagining what new project I could crochet. I crocheted much more than I ever had before, and learned so many new skills, and became much more consistent in my stitches and tension. Below are some of my favorite projects I designed on the road, and all are things I am still using regularly!
