I bought Yarnspiration’s Caron x Pantone Yarn at my local Michaels Store knowing I had to make a beanie out of it! I loved the presentation, how the yarn is split up by color and wrapped together. I also loved how many color choices there were! And all in combinations that would not have occurred to me. After getting it home, separating it out, and balling it up, it turns out the yarn is incredibly soft and cozy – perfect for a hat. Plus it comes with just enough yarn to make an adult sized beanie with minimal scrap yarn! I have been working on creating less yarn waste lately and this product is helping me meet my goals. I try to use an entire skein down in one go and have back-up and stash-buster projects on hard to keep using my excess yarn. And this yarn comes in the perfect amount for a beanie!
I decided to add in the vertical ribbing to give the beanie a more textured look. I have been experimenting more with front post crocheting in my designs lately and love how this one came out. Plus, it is super simple! If it is your first time using this technique, do not worry. The bulky yarn and the large hook make it easy to see what you are doing and you will be amazed at how easy it is to create this vertical ribbed look. It also gives the hat a lot of stretch and makes it so comfy to wear.
