I am hanging on to the last shreds of summer here in the PNW with this watermelon chalk bag! Good thing we are headed south for the winter where I can take this little buddy on some warm weather climbs on desert sandstone.
I just love how bright the design turned out. It’s always fun to spice up your drab climbing gear with some whimsy, and what better way than with a hot pink chalk bag? I considered making a yellow one as well for yellow watermelon!
Not a climber? Here are some ways you can still use this pattern:
-yarn ball cozy or yarn bowl
-plant pot cozy
-scrap yarn basket
-child’s purse
-dog treat bag
-Anything else you can think of!

DIRECTIONS
This piece is started in the round with joining and no turning. To achieve an invisible and straight seam, work your first stitch of the next round into the same stitch as your chain and end the round slip stitching into the first stitch of the previous round.
Begin with size H (5 mm) crochet hook and the hot pink yarn. You will change yarn color to white yarn, after completing row 17, for one row. Finish off rows 19 and 20 with the green yarn.
Magic Circle
(Wondering what the checkboxes are for? Check out this tutorial and make online patterns easier to follow!)
Finish off and weave in ends.
SEEDS
Use a yarn needle and black scraps of yarn to sew black seeds all around the pink part of your chalk bag. Make sure to tie them off tightly on the inside and weave in the ends so you do not lose them while climbing!

ASSEMBLY
Loop the yard of paracord through the weave of your chalk bag at the back and tie around your waist. Cut down to proper length.
