All of my patterns have checkboxes next to the crochet instructions. This was an intentional design to help readers and crocheters more easily follow my patterns from their phones and computers. It is a very simple and intuitive feature to use.
Do you struggle with keeping track of your rows? Are you forever jotting down crochet notes on scraps of paper or your phone? I wanted to solve this problem for crocheters who use patterns right off of my website. As you are working on one of my patterns, simply check off each checkbox as you complete each row. Not only will my site put a strike through the row you finished it will remember where you are at even if you refresh the browser or exit out of the page!
Below is an example from my recent Serenity Beanie pattern. As you can see, I have checked off the first two rows and there is an automatic strike through that text. Now I can easily tell which row I am on and what has been completed. The checkboxes are easy to use, even on your cell phone!
Continue on down the pattern checking the boxes as you go. Now you can keep track of the pattern and not worry about losing your place if you refresh the page or accidentally close it!
Give it a try with this sample pattern!
I hope this helps you more easily use my patterns and improves the experience of using a phone or computer to follow crochet patterns. I want everyone to find their creative niche and to feel comfortable while doing it. I want to remove as many barriers as possible!
I totally love your checkbox idea. I think all printed patterns should have a check box as well. I always lose my place.
Thank you so much Sheila! I am glad you like it! It really helps me keep track and I thought other’s would appreciate it too 🙂
OMG! I tried your checkboxes in the sample above, and I have to say I LOVE IT!!! Even if someone makes an error in the pattern and has to frog back a couple, (or a few rows, which some of us done), it makes following the pattern again, easy! What a wonderful addition to any pattern, this would make, Thank you for sharing and the tip!
I am so happy to hear this! I personally love my own checkboxes and am so glad you feel the same way 🙂 -Ellie
